DIVORCE
The world has changed dramatically from our grandparents' generation, even our parents' generation. Divorce rates are high as individuals are less focused on survival (our grandparents HAD to focus on this!) and more able to choose life paths that provide happiness and fulfillment.
Collaborative divorce is a win/win method of respectful dissolution of marriage. Parties make decisions themselves for their lives and their families rather than the win-lose litigation approach of having a judge decide. A team of attorneys, mental health professional(s) and financial neutrals support you in reaching agreements that work best for you and your family without the stress, cost and bitterness that the courtroom brings.
Having worked with a great number of co-parenting cases where disagreements in co-parenting continue long after finalization of the divorce, I find collaborative divorce the proactive method of establishing an effective working relationship for post-divorce co-parenting and thus avoiding the high stress associated with long-term court proceedings. For divorcing couples without children or with adult children, collaborative divorce allows parties to negotiate agreements that meet the specific needs of each party.
If you or someone you know is considering divorce, I hope you'll gather information about this process as you consider your options. I'm glad to answer any questions you may have or provide more information. -- Kim Wilson, LCSW
